Five Things on Friday 1/15

I'm back! After an extremely lazy (and amazing!) winter break and pretty crazy return to school, I'm feeling back in the flow of things. I battled a pretty nasty cold this week but actually allowed myself to use a sick day to rest because I'm going to Chicago for my friend's bachelorette party tonight!

-one- Super late to the party in every respect in that I just used my panoramic function on my super old iPhone 5s for the first time. I'm sure I'll be shocked and awed when I next upgrade by all of the new technology. But I'm loving these pictures I took of our living room, dining room, and bedroom. Would have been useful when I took these pictures right after we moved. I'm so excited to take more panoramic pictures on some of our travels this year!

-two- New car! In the last week of December, we decided to finally take my car in to replace a solenoid that has needed fixing for probably a year. We got a quote that blew us away and after minimal research we realized that the cost of repair outweighed the value of the car. I was in no way attached to my 2003 Mazda6 but I was bummed to have to buy a car when we're focusing so much on saving for travel and paying down debt. So I was pretty resigned to buying a very underwhelming used car, at least 6 or 7 years old. Then, Cody suggested we look at how much Fiats were going for. We Cody drove one in Italy during our honeymoon and we fell in love with how cute it was. Turns out, way more affordable than most of the cars we were looking at so on New Year's Eve (best day to buy a car!) I drove away with a 2013 Fiat 500, exactly one year after we'd driven around Naples, Sorrento, and Positano! How serendipitous!

-three- Our 2015 Christmas card picture! We sent out our cards a little after Christmas but I'm sure we'll be on top of it next year...

-four- Two weeks ago Cody's mom and younger sisters came to Minneapolis to go to a UofM Gopher Hockey game with us. We went to Cody's brewery, had dinner, and went to the game.

Cody's sisters are 12 and 14 and sometimes a little preoccupied with the phones. Seriously, I've never seen anyone take selfies as inconspicuously as they do. In the middle of a conversation they'll say something, turn slightly, make duck lips, off their snapchat goes, and they're back to the conversation. Anyway, one of his sisters was snapping away during the game and the mascot Goldie came up behind her, grabbed her phone, and took hundreds of pictures of himself. It. was. hysterical.

-five- In October we brought our new cat Bruce home and it was a rocky start to his relationship with Quinn. I wrote about my stress over that and Kristen was so sweet to provide some really great advice. It makes me SO happy that this is their current relationship!

Also, I found this:

Quinn is a Pisces and we don't know Bruce's birthday, but based upon reading this, I think he's a Taurus. Crazy? Did I just lose one of my 4 followers?
